Voice from the East (VEAST), an Igbo Group,  has condemned the conferment of Igbo tradional title of ‘Agunaechemba’ on the Governor Ganduje of Kano State by  Eze  Eberechi  Dick, the South  East  Council Chairman of Traditional Rulers,  describing it as a most desecration of Igbo culture.

In a statement signed by Comrade Kindness Jonah, its  Convener, and made available to journalists at Umuahia over the weekend, the group blamed Eberechi Dick for awarding such a title to somebody it claimed does not merit it.

The group cited the killing of Deeper Life Pastor’s  Wife Mrs Bridget  Agbahime, in Kano under the watchful eyes of Governor Ganduje, as a case point.

The statement read in part, “How can such a highly placed traditional ruler of Igbo fail to appreciate the fact that Igbos have been mindlessly killed under the watchful eyes of Ganduje?.

“Recall that Bridget Agbahime was mindlessly slaughtered at Wambai Market in Kano, and the killers were subsequently arrested by police.

“But what did Ganduje as Governor do? Have Igbo traditional rulers lost the sense of reason? What has Eberechi Dick done to the battered psyche of Igbos  and  Pastor  Agbahime, in particular as the widower?”

VEAST also faulted those behind the arrest of women  demonstrators at  Owerri who had taken to the streets to  show their displeasure on what  they called ‘the maltreatment, political  emasculation  and castration of Igbos by the Nigerian government,’ and had showcased their aversion by half-naked posture.

‘‘By that satanic and uncalled for intervention by the police, a woman lost her life due to the tear gas, while the demonstrators were rounded up and taken to detention, and have been castrated ever since in the police cell,” the group lamented.
